Learning the rhetorical figures of metaphor, anthropomorphism, synecdoche, hyperbole, and allegory was the focus of this project. As a class we read Macbeth and watched Roman Polanski’s movie version. The class was then broken into groups with each group focusing on one act. They worked in teams to understand the meanings of the rhetorical figures and develop ideas about possible images to use for their design. Each student then designed a spread with a title that connects with the image to communicate the overall message.
